Ο Δεξιός τροχός του ατμόπλοιου ΠΑΤΡΙΣ (πρώην ΟΘΩΝ) βλέπει το φώς της ημέρας ανοικτά απο τον κόλπο του Κούνδουρου στις 24-5-2007 Picture from NAFTEMPORIKI Ενα δείγμα απο πορσελάνινο βάζο με διάκοσμο απο το ατμόπλοιο ΠΑΤΡΙΣ της Ελληνικής Ατμοπλοϊας Σύρου. Βυθίστηκε στην ξέρα της Μακρυοπούντας στην Κέα στις 24 Φεβρουαρίου 1868. Picture by Vasilis Mentoyannis The Steam Ship PATRIS (ex S/S OTHON) was the jewell of the ELLINIKI ATMOPLOIA (Hellenic Stemaship Co.) of Syros (then the capital of the young Greek Republic). The paddle wheeled dual boilered steam engine propelled the ship in combination with traditional sail rigging. It sunk in 1896 after hitting the Makriopuda reef, off Koyndouros Bay. The larger ship than the famous Titanic was Britannic of the White Star Line of England. Here as "civilian luxury liner" before it was comandeered by the Royal Navy and converted to HM Hospital Ship (HMHS) HMHS Britannic in Hospital Colors (Red Cross)
